VFlood

Rainfall–runoff–inundation flood model in Python (NumPy/Numba). Simulates how rain becomes river flow and overland flooding across a basin; it produced the lab's flood simulations.

A Python implementation of the Rainfall–Runoff–Inundation (RRI) approach of Sayama et al. (2012), with a fast local-inertial solver for two-dimensional flooding. It runs a whole basin at once: rain falls on the grid, runs off the slopes, fills the rivers and spills onto the floodplain.

Its results can be explored in the flood simulation viewer.

VBasin

Builds a basin model from a DEM, with the derived stream network reconciled to the real river, reads the VRain design-rainfall package and computes design flood hydrographs with HEC-HMS; exports boundary conditions for HEC-RAS and VFlood.

Web app

Flood simulation viewer

Explore model results on a map, hour by hour, with flood depth, extent and arrival time; click any point for its hydrograph. Starts with the Tamiang flood during Cyclone Senyar (2025).
